What are Dentures?
Dentures are used when most or all of the natural teeth are missing in one dental arch and are typically made of acrylic that has been molded and colored to look like natural teeth and gums. Dentures are removable for cleaning and maintenance, and while they are not a permanent solution, they can enhance your quality of life by improving your ability to speak and chew.
Full Dentures
Also known as complete dentures, full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing from a single dental arch. When combined with dental implants, dentures snap securely in place for the most comfortable fit.
Partial Dentures
As the name implies, partials are not full dentures, but they work the same way to replace missing teeth. Partials are also custom-made, removable, and closely resemble natural teeth. If adjacent teeth are lost in the future, the partial denture can be augmented to accommodate.
Dentures and partials require maintenance and care beyond simple daily cleaning. Because they are not a permanent solution, they need to be adjusted over time to ensure the best possible fit and comfort. They also tend to wear, which can affect the ability to chew the longer they are used.
