Important Information About Treatment Instructions
We know that our patients would love to have ideal health and never need to visit our office for anything other than a regular hygiene examination. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Thankfully, we offer a number of restorative dental treatments that can improve any oral health problem. You often hear us speak about the importance of receiving a recommended treatment as soon as possible. Today, we want to take a moment to explain the importance of following our instructions before and after treatment.
Importance of Following Treatment Instructions
We are able to provide any treatment you may need to improve and restore the function and appearance of your teeth. Before and after treatment, we will provide instructions to ensure that we are able to perform the procedure safely and you will heal properly. For example, there are some patients who need to take medication prior to receiving any form of dental treatment. If this step is skipped, it can lead to complications, such as infection. There are other patients who may need to stop taking medications to ensure they do not bleed abnormally during treatment.
When you do not follow our treatment instructions properly, you may experience complications and require a repeat of the same treatment or additional procedures. This can lead to unnecessary discomfort as well as added expenses. Each patient heals differently following treatment, so it is wise to follow all of our instructions, especially in terms of rest and eating.
Follow Eating Instructions
If we use a numbing agent during your treatment, it is important to allow the numbness to wear off before you eat. Failure to do so can lead to an injury to your mouth. You could bite your cheek or tongue and not know. Be sure to avoid eating on the side of the treatment if that is one of the instructions.
