Sedation Dentistry
We are dedicated to our patients and part of that means that we will do everything we can to make you feel at ease while in our office. Our team members will offer nothing but compassionate care and ensure that your feelings are being heard. It is extremely important that you do not allow your uneasiness to keep you from receiving the dental care that you need. We are exceptionally gentle and make sure to go at your pace. We know that there are patients who need a little extra support, and we are happy to offer sedation dentistry to those patients. Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental treatments.
Sedation dentistry can help patients who have:
- Phobia related to dental procedures
- Bad experiences with dental work in the past
- Particularly sensitive oral nerves
- Trouble sitting through long procedures
- Sensitivity to the smells, sights, and sounds of the dentist office
Depending on the severity of the patient’s feelings, we have minimal and moderate sedation options. We offer two forms of sedation dentistry:
Nitrous Oxide
This form of sedation is most common and is administered in the form of a gas, commonly known as “laughing gas”. Being that it is used during the procedure only, the effects are immediate and only last while being administered. It creates a calming effect to help patients feel at ease and relaxed during dental procedures.
Oral Sedation
For patients who have a more severe phobia, we offer a moderate approach to sedation. This method is taken in pill form and creates a sense of peace and calm before the patient arrives at our office. The effects of this method are longer lasting and might be felt for some time following the procedure.
If you are someone who avoids the dentist and has been putting off a cleaning or procedure out of fear, fear no longer! Contact our office located in The Woodlands, TX to hear more about how sedation dentistry can help you. We hope to see you in our office soon.
